“A lady’s imagination is very rapid; it jumps from admiration to love, from love to matrimony in a moment.”
Mr. Darcy, Pride and Prejudice
“A hamburger does not equal a wedding ring.”
“A hamburger does not equal a wedding ring.”
Michael Pitts
“She (Ruth) doesn’t go to the altar emotionally.”
“She (Ruth) doesn’t go to the altar emotionally.”
Mark Driscoll
Notice all three quotes are from males, well I guess Mr. Darcy is voiced by Jane Austen, but still... However, I do think at times the echo of truth is within these quotes. So often women jump from the slightest inclination of interest to planning a wedding - myself, at times included. While I do advocate the need for women in general to hold onto the reigns of control, and to limit the next step approach to dating and love, and even at times just a dinner; I do also believe that women were made in such a way that if not for them there never would be marriage!!! Ok, well AND God too. Seriously, there are times when it is because the women see the bigger picture in terms of dating and love. Take Ruth and Boaz for instance. Ruth while in the beginning did not "go to the altar emotionally" she was the one who eventually went and lay at the feet of Boaz, and essentially prompted Boaz into finally getting his act together and doing something about matrimony. If Ruth, well really Naomi, hadn't been thinking of the next step then would have Boaz ever got around to "popping" the question?!
QUOTE 1: Mr. Darcy does have a rather accurate picture of a lady's imagination: admiration does often jump from love, and once love thoughts of matrimony are not far behind. Yet, if there is love why wait?!
QUOTE 2: Michael Pitts also speaks truth, yet a steak might mean a ring!!!
QUOTE 3: No Ruth didn't go to altar emotionally, but she did makes plans to get there physically!!!
