My American Idol night was different this week. Rather than my usual Tuesday evening spent with a group watching american idol with dvr - read the capacity to fast forward through all those commerical (seriously, what is with all those commercials?!) - I spent the evening with my parents. Actually it was a perfect night to watch American Idol with the Ps, because it was British Invasion, and so I could actually reference my parents on the songs :) Anywho, I've never done an American Idol blog, so this is my tribute to sounding my own trumpet in regards to AI.
Haley - Ok, so she can dress skimpy, and well I give you the ensemble was cute -- But just because she moves around and shows some skin doesn't mean that she is actually a contester. I did not enjoy her performance, although I did like the lyrics of the song she sang. (See below blog for lyrics).
I don't have much to say for Chris R, Stephanie, Lakisha, Chris S
Jordin - was one of my favorite performers of the night. Although her song was full of sorrow, I thought she did an exceptional job at expressing the mood of the song.
Gina - I was eager for her performance, but was slightly disappointed.
Blake - another fave of mine! I think he does a really good job of bringing a modern twist to the songs. I like his contemporary style, and his pursuit to stay out the game of trying to fit in. I think he stands a really good chance of making it to the final.
I didn't rate Phil Stacey.
Sanjaya - Ok, can we say awful, horrible, atrocious - please he can't make it through to another round! The performance was pitiful, I'm actually beginning to feel sorry for him. Take him out his misery, DON'T vote for him :) I have to say Simon's comment about the girl's face with tears streaming down her face saying it all, was priceless!
Actually let's talk about that girl - talk about expressing one's emotions. I don't think I've seen such immediate emotion -- I mean she looked pained, but she was crying because she enjoyed it so much. I do think it was sweet that Ryan had her come on the stage at the end, but still - wow!
Melinda - I agree her vocals are exceptional, yet I don't think she has the personality, that something to make her a finalist.
SO the home voting choices are:
MUM DAD ELLIE
GOING Phil Sanjaya Phil
SHOULD GO Sanjaya Sanjaya Sanjaya
BEST Melinda Melinda Jordin

Blake Blake
