Domesticality

Yes, yes I know "domesticality" is not a 'real' word but I have adopted it as my own, and have branded it to describe my foray into the domestic world. Weeks go by and I don't cook or bake (well Tuesday evenings I do make cookies for AI night, but usually they are from the bag variety that you add butter and an egg), but the past four days I've baked jammie cookies (an adaptation from the bag variety), shepherd's pie (from scratch), chicken salad (ok, well kind of cheating considering I stripped the chicken from an already cooked chicken!), coconut and chocolate bars (FROM SCRATCH), rice krispie treats (FROM SCRATCH), and chocolate chip cookie (ok, well these were the break and bake ::)

...AND I cleaned this weekend, but I didn't clean from this evening's foray. In fact what I did this evening is make a LARGE mess...see when I bake I tend to use every spoon, spatula, whisk, bowl, knife, etc -- you name it, I used it to create my culinary delights for this evening's American Idol fun. Rather than tackle the job of cleaning it all, I restacked it all and left it by the sink to clean tomorrow?!

I don't know what it is, but I can't seem to bake without making a mess, and without using every utensil and bowl, etc, etc...

They were tasty by the way -- my treats tonight...I know, I know pride before a fall. In fact I was thinking of that as I was driving because I was admiring how the treats looked on the plate, and I was thinking I shouldn't think too much of them because then at that point of getting out of the car I would probably trip and they would go flying and my plate and treats would break and crumble, and I would be left with nothing to show...
