it's the little things

It is the little things in life that put a smile in my heart, that lift my spirit when it wades in shallow waters.

It's the friend who secretly fixed my headlight (the bulb had needed replacing since February). Although I did fail to notice the difference, but that perhaps is another tale for another day!

It's the words of a mother (my mother) who sticks with the practical when the emotions spiral down, a good hot shower is just the ticket!

It's the delight of a child discovering life.

It's the vocalization of your name from the baby who is fast becoming a toddler.

It's the answered prayer, that is seemingly meaningless, yet God answers it.

It's the laughter and innocence that exists in children - that their faces alight with joy over the simple moments.

It's the email reply from a friend, with words and understanding that came without being asked.

It's the empowering knowledge that each day is a new day, and is filled with God's mercies and grace - and it is the fact that this is not a little thing, but is the biggest thing in life.

It's the little things that fill my heart with joy, because it is in those moments that I see God's grace and mercy. He fills our needs in ways if we were to ask we would never imagine. He soothes our frustrations, He heals our bruised hearts, He gives us glimpses of Himself in the little things: the action of a friend, the words of a mother, the love of a child, the encouragement from a friend...these are the hands of God in my life.
