the silence has been broken

Guillaume and I met at church. He was friends with my brother, Ronnie, first. Overtime our friendship grew and we started spending more and more time together. We often went to the movies together and shared conversation over food. I remember the moment I knew I loved him. We weren't yet dating, but were close friends. We were leaving from our tradition of weekly family night dinner, and as we left together he paused at his car, and started sharing a recent growth. (No, not an ingrown toenail)!!! As I got in my car that night - I knew. I knew that I loved this man. It wasn't until some weeks later that Guillaume expressed his love for me, that was October 30, 2007 from that point on we were girlfriend and boyfriend, and as of April 6th we are affianced.

What do I love about Guillaume? I'm so glad you asked! He is this quintessential mix of soft cuddly teddy bear and knight in shining armor. He embraced the people most important to me with joy and exuberance, and continues to do so.

He has a deep love and passion for Jesus Christ, his Lord and Saviour, our Lord and Saviour. He strives to live as Jesus has called him to do so. I love his giggle, and that I can elicit it at whim with a mere tickle! I love his chuckle, and how it reverberates in his chest. I love how his eyes crinkle when he smiles. I love his strength. I admire his loyalty, to his family and friends. I admore his quest for knowledge. I admire his generosity. I admire his eagerness. Sometimes he reminds me of a little boy, and I want to catch him up and hold him close.

The countdown is on for the day we move from fiancé and fiancée to husband and wife, as of today 134 days!!! People have been both quick to offer congratulations and startled joy at the swiftness of a date.

We're four cultures melding together: English, English tainted American with 13 years experience, French, French tainted American with 6 years of experience and countless years of Columbo and Seinfeld Americano!!

Our aim is that our wedding and consequently our marriage, be a reflection of our faith in Christ Jesus. It is our hope and prayer that on September 13 as we stand before family and friends promising to love, honor, and cherish each other that our words and actions reflect the promise that God has made to each and every one of us - a promise to love and cherish us, a promise to call us His own.

Both Guillaume and I have embraced that promise for our lives, and have lived out that promise, often stumbling along the way, but always cocooned in the eternal love of God.

The weeks to come promise to be full of decisions, lessons, and surprises as we edge closer to September 13; but the most amazing and joy-filled decision has already been made (and no, it isn't the decision to get married, although that is a close second), but it is the decision we both made at intersections of our own lives to say "I do" to the promise of love offered by God through His Son. It is with that love and example of God in mind that I smile at the prospect of September 13 and the days preceding and proceeding that day of double "I do"s!
