the love of a child

Back to work today after two and a half weeks off. What a sweet and as the day passed, slightly smelly welcome back to "my" munchkins. A child's warm, bright and slightly sleepy smile when she sees you is worth more than any sum of money. A little baby's laughter when you kiss and "eat" him at his cheeks is equally priceless.

My first day back was full of a couple of spit ups -- over me, down my jeans, in my lap - he was making up for lost days :) Then little angel that she is had an accident at the park, and I unknowingly picked her up and had her on my hip, which meant my top at my hip was soaked through!!!

But, then she walked around today exclaiming that "The cruise was fun, but I missed you!" How can you beat that love?! *laugh* Then she took out the papers from my Bible and was opening them and "reading" them, want to know what she thought they said?! Of course you do!!! "Jesus loves you very much. And because he loves you he lives in your heart." Then she added in a bunch of other stuff -- but those two lines she was very consistent with. A child's faith, a child's belief -- so simple, without any fuss or complications. I've told her Jesus loves her very much, and when we love him back he lives in our hearts and she accepts it, embraces it. She knows Jesus loves her. NOW that is priceless!!

I love them -- I love Marissa and Michael. Nothing beats it. Nothing beats the smiles, the laughter, the stories, the characters that they each are...while I had such a great time with my parents, I am glad to be back with Marissa and Michael - my angels, the laughter of my heart, the two people who can make me smile at the core of who I am without even trying, just being who they are - who God created them to be.
