Commentary

The pastor of my church writes a blog following the Sunday message, the blog's use is intended to faciliate discussion within small groups and to serve as further teaching so to speak on the message. This week's message was on intimacy...much more but the point of writing this entry this way was because I didn't want to overly think and type so I was (and am) simply going to link to this week's blog post on Dan's page, and then cut and paste in my own comments on it...

My comment left on his blog:

"Intimacy is not a feeling, it's a function." I first read the blog and thought, 'ok, this one's for the married couples only.' But as the day passed and I marinated on the words of the blog I realized that there is much to be taken and applied to our relationship with Christ. Intimacy WITH CHRIST is not a feeling, it is a function. Even your steps for married couples have some application to our relationship with Christ. For example, taking time to laugh - I think it is vital in our walk with God to stop in our day and take time to delight in who He is in our lives and laugh and rejoice at His goodness. Now obviously applying "fire up..." to your relationship with God may take a much more active imagination than I have, but you get the idea.Back to function not feeling, and I thought of the verses John 13:34-35 "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." We demonstrate our love for God in our actions OF LOVE to the world (including the people) He created. Finally, what better example than God Himself in that "he demonstrates His love for us, that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us."

So that's the blog for tonight -- I need to start getting some more topics in here...I have some brewing that's for sure!!!!!
