What a week!!!
Let's grant Saturday the rare opportunity to be the beginning of the week and start there:
Saturday June 23 I had the fortunate experience of having a devout, charismatic woman of God move from the row behind me to stand next to where I was sitting and prayer for/over me. In the process I was "baptized" by water, mucin, protein, and enzymes, otherwise known as "spit"... prayed over (unsolicited mind you), hugged close, closer still when I tried to pull away...and my eyes were periodically checked to see if they emitted any salty substance, when upon expection they hadn't she prayed all the more earnestly and feverently. Despite the bizarre experience I was in some strange way appreciative of the woman's desire to have me join in the prayer.
Then as the week progressed I was reminded of my singleness by the earnest questioning of my three year old charge, who upon knowing I was getting ready to leave for the day asked:
Marissa: "Is Carol (my mum) waiting for you?"
Ellie: "No"
Marissa: "Oh, is Ronnie (my baby brother) waiting for you?"
Ellie: "No"
Marissa: "Ellie, how come no one is waiting for you?"
Yes, well let's just say with those two instances alone God's sense of humor (?) is firmly intact - not that I had actually doubted it was mind you!!!
Instance one: my face touched by people I know is a BIG NO NO, let alone by someone I've never met! Spit? Well, I don't think there are too many people out there that appreciate that, but to me in my "old" age I've become quite a germphobic.
Instance two: my sweet Marissa drove home a point I've been dwelling on - there is no one waiting for me at "home." But to this sharp point my mum likes to remind me that I am in fact not yet a quarter of a century old, and therefore that "someone" is still in existence.
Much more to the week -- I'll keep blogging away!!!!!
